The Nestor Falls Musky Cup is using the FishDonkey app to record catches. You can use your phone (iPhone or Android) to record your Musky on the bump board and its release and then upload it through the FishDonkey app. All videos showing the measurement and release must be made through the FishDonkey app. Here's a quick FAQ.
You will need to download the FishDonkey app to record your fish for the tournament. The app is available on both Google Play and Apple App stores. Open the app and register (only one member of the team needs to do this. After registering, tap "Fish in a Tournament"". Search for Nestor Falls Musky Cup using the magnifying glass, then tap "Join Now". (If the Nestor Falls Mucky Cup is not found, we're busy doing things behind the scenes. Check back later!)Practice using the App before the tournament! Prepare before heading out on the lake by practicing entering a fish. Becoming familiar with the app will ensure your device has given the app permissions to access the camera and knowing how to enter a fish will allow you to get back to fishing sooner! Here's a video for the Practice section of the app.
Videos taken through the app are limited to 30 seconds. Once you tap the video button, it starts recording immediately. You can take multiple videos. For example, one video for the measurement, one for the release. Or multiple videos of measurement and one of the release. You can also take a picture, but judging will only be done from the videos.
Open the FishDonkey app before leaving the dock in the morning. The app works offline if you open the Musky Cup tournament page and load the 'Enter a Fish' screen before heading out onto the water. Leave the app open, enter your fish, your fish are held in the livewell area (fish icon at top of screen.) When you are in or return to good reception area, tap the livewell and leave it open. Do this until the app shows all fish received.
Your videos will be high quality, so it will take time for them to upload. Do not delete any videos until the app says they have been received. We recommend having plenty of memory on your device. (Time to offload those 19,862 pictures and videos!) You may want to offload the days videos after retuning in the evening. And remember to have a good charge all day on your phone!
